TÜRK MASA TENİSİ MİLLİ TAKIMI
2008 Pekin Olimpiyatları'nda, masa tenisinde Türkiye adına yarışacak Cem Zeng, ''Kendi ülkemde Türkiye'yi temsil etmek beni heyecanlandırıyor'' dedi.
Çin Halk Cumhuriyeti'nin başkenti Pekin'de gerçekleştirilecek 29. Yaz Oyunları'nda masa tenisinde mücadele edecek Cem Zeng, başarılı olmak için çalıştığını söyledi.
Bayanlarda Türkiye adına yarışacak soydaşı Melek Hu ile uyum içinde çalıştıklarını ifade eden Zeng, şunları kaydetti:
''Yaklaşık bir yıldır Türkiye adına yarışmalara katılıyorum. Pekin Olimpiyatları'na kota aldığım için mutluyum. Kendi ülkemde Türkiye'yi temsil etmek beni heyecanlandırıyor. Olimpiyatların Çin'de yapılıyor olması da benim için bir avantaj. Çünkü ben Çin'in iklim koşullarına alışığım. Kendi ülkemizde artık vatandaşlığını benimsediğimiz Türkiye adına yarışıcağız. Madalya kazanabilmek için elimizden gelen bütün çabayı göstereceğiz.''
Olimpiyatlarda ilk kez mücadele edeceğini belirten Cem Zeng, ''Oyunlarda en iyi dereceyi yapmaya çalışacağız. Fakat madalya şansımız düşük gözüküyor'' dedi.
Türkiye'ye Fenerbahçe Spor Kulübü'ne transferi dolasıyla geldiğini ve memnun olduğunu kaydeden, buraya alıştıklarını söyledi.
Türkiye, oyunlarda masa tenisinde bayanlarda Melek Hu, erkeklerde ise Cem Zeng olmak üzere iki sporcu ile mücadele edecek.
Melek Hu ve Cem Zeng, oyunlara hazırlıklarını yaklaşık 25 gündür Çin'de sürdürüyor.

QUALIFICATION SYSTEM
SINGLES
MAIN DRAW – 64 men and 64 women
Sixty-four (64) athletes for each of the men’s singles and women’s singles events will qualify for the
main draw as follows:
20 ITTF World Ranking, with a maximum of two (2) players per NOC
40 Continental qualification system
1 Tripartite Commission Invitation place
1 Host nation direct entry
2 Final World Qualification Event
64 Total - with a maximum of three (3) players from the same NOC
Preliminary rounds, in addition to the main draw of 64, may be necessary in Singles events to
accommodate the total number of qualified athletes if the Final World Qualification Tournament
qualifies more than two (2) players because the Team Quota (22 places) is not fully utilised.
TEAM EVENTS – 16 Men’s and 16 Women’s Teams
Sixteen (16) Teams for each of the Men’s Team and Women’s Team events will qualify as follows:
6 Top team from each Continent
1 Host nation direct entry
9 Remaining selected teams
An additional quota of 22 places for men and 22 places for women are made available to complement
(if necessary) the quota for teams that did not qualify three (3) players in the singles events through
World Ranking Qualification, Continental Qualification, host nation direct entry or Tripartite
Commission Invitation places.
Players who have been added to a team from the quota of 22 additional places may only play in the
Team Event and shall not be entered in the singles event.

MAÇ SİSTEMİ
Competition Format
Singles
Singles events will be played in knock-out and play-off.
The winner of each match will advance to the next round. And the loser will be eliminated. The winners of the two semifinal matches will advance to the gold medal match, the winner of this match will receive the gold medal and the loser will receive the silver medal. The losers of the two semifinal matches will compete for the bronze medal.
All matches shall be the best of seven games, each game with 11 points. A game shall be won by the player first scoring 11 points unless both players score 10 points, when the game shall be won by the first player subsequently gaining a lead of 2 points. There is an interval of up to 1 minute between successive games of an individual match; a player may claim one time-out period of up to 1 minute during an individual match. Players may receive advice from coach during the intervals between games or during other authorized suspension of the play.
Teams
The teams competition will be held in 2 stages. The first stage is group round robin; the second stage is knock-out.
In the first stage, the 16 participating teams will be divided into 4 groups of 4 teams (Groups A-D). The 4 highest ranked teams will go to Group A to D respectively. The remaining teams will be drawn in ranking order, 2 at a time into Groups A, B, C and D. The group round robin system will be used to decide the places in each group.
In the second stage, the winning teams of each group shall play-off, in a knockout semi-final format for the Gold and Silver Medals. The second placed teams of each group and the semi-final contest losers shall play-off for the Bronze medal.
A team match at the Olympic competition is called a "contest". Each contest consists of 4 Singles matches and 1 Doubles match. All Singles matches and Doubles match in a contest are the best of 5, with no other differences from Men's and Women's Singles Event. Two teams in a contest play in the following order:
